NC Coalition for Health Education

August 18, 2003

Hello-

My name is Deborah Franko and I am the current chair for the North Carolina Coalition for Health Education (NCCHE). The mission of the NCCHE is to impact positively the lives of North Carolinians by improving the quality of health education across all practice settings. The purpose of the NCCHE is to advocate with a strong, unified voice for the profession and for excellence in the practice of health education.

The NCCHE has avidly been working on creating two brochures for your use and they are attached below. The brochure "Health Education: An Exciting Career!" will help assist to attract students to the health education
field. In addition, it addresses important issues such as where to get a degree in health education in North Carolina and specific details regarding health education and practice settings.

The brochure "Enhance Your Organizations Effectiveness: Hire a Health Educator" offers information on skills that a health educator can bring to your organization, academic preparation/certifications that a health educator may have and specific interview questions.

Please print these brochures (1, 2) and distribute as you see necessary. They should be printed on a standard 8.5 X 11 inch card stock paper. The NCCHE will have copies of these brochures available in the near future by requesting via e-mail at NCCHE@yahoo.com.

Thank you for your continued efforts to make health education a viable and exciting career in North Carolina!
